Everyone wants to have their site rank and show up above the fold in the SERP’s or search engine results page on the highly coveted first page.
When people search in a search engine they typically only look at the results right in front of them, few will even move down past what is referred to as the ‘fold’. Everyone wants the best and Google’s, and Bing’s idea of what is best for any particular search is on the top of the results page starting with number one. So who do you think gets all the action? You guessed it number one.
Take a look at the results page the next time you do a search and you will see a number the amount of results for your search with your search terms or your keyword, Google & Bing show the results on the top Yahoo shows them on the bottom. The only way you are going to get seen on the results page when it counts, when a person is ready to buy, is by jumping thru all of Google’s hoops or all of Bing’s hoops better than everyone else and that is not easy. But look at the rewards everyone who finds you at the top will see you are the best in the eyes of the almighty search engine, any you will get the lion’s share of the business that comes from those searches that show you on top.
Big companies, corporations, government, well to do businessmen, and such will hire someone to do their SEO work for them, unless their business is SEO. This is how the Big SEO companies get their business. The SEO work they perform is not cheap and needs to be constantly applied.
